The Latin name of the herb is Cassia angustifolia(Kassia/Lupine) or Cassia senna. Also referred to by the names of Senna, Kassia Synamiki, Alexandria leaves or Egypt leaves. It is cultivated in India and in the counties that surround the Red Sea. The name leaves of Alexandria came out because the port of Alexandria was the main transport hub for centuries. In Europe, the use of the leaves of Senna was only at the end of the middle ages. Since the 1950s it has been in modern medicine as a laxative.
